At The Water’s Edge, youth currently in 8th grade, or older, who are ready to publicly profess their faith and commitment to Jesus Christ, and His church, are invited to participate in Confirmation Preparation.
What is Confirmation?
Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God’s grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation. It involves a series of gatherings and time of preparation to help students learn and understand what it means to walk in their Christian faith; the history and teachings of The United Methodist Church; and affirm the baptismal and membership vows they will publicly profess.
When Does Confirmation Happen?
Confirmation at The Water’s Edge takes place during each school year. It involves regular participation in the life of the church and student ministry, service to the community, personal reflection, mentoring, and attendance at confirmation preparation seminars.
Who Is Confirmation For?
Confirmation is open to any student who is currently in 8th-12th grades and is ready to publicly profess faith in Jesus Christ, reaffirm the vows made at his or her Baptism and affirm the membership vows of The Water’s Edge.
When & Where Does Confirmation Meet?
The confirmation preparation seminars meet bi-weekly on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. during the school year. A full Confirmation Calendar can be found here.
