Serving Opportunities & Descriptions
Food Bank of The Heartland
Assist Food Bank staff members with (ages 10 and over):
- Set-up, truck unloading, distribution of food to families in drive through style process
- Volunteers will help distribute 5 breakfasts meals, 5 lunch meals (including some fresh produce) and 10 cartons of milk to every child present in each vehicle.
- Volunteers need to be comfortable lifting 25 pound boxes and crates
- Distribution of paper resource packets to attendees C
- Clean-up of distribution materials (boxes, crates, bags, etc) after the distribution is complete.
WE Omaha Property Projects
Work on The Water’s Edge church property and within the building doing the following:
- Trimming trees
- Staining & fixing picnic benches
- Picking up trash
- Various other projects
Local School Projects
Work within area schools assisting with the following:
- Grounds clean up
- Weeding flower beds/garden areas
- Picking up trash
- Painting/Re-Painting of US maps on playgrounds
- Re-Painting of hopscotch, basketball, etc areas on playgrounds
- Other projects as determined by schools
Uganda Kits for Girls
Assemble feminine hygiene kits to be distributed by our Uganda Mission Team. Projects will include:
- Iron fabric
- Cutting fabric
- Trimming material
- Sewing of pads
- Assembly of kits
Sleep In Heavenly Peace
- Help build beds for area children in need. Project will include basic construction/carpentry skills:
- Measuring boards
- Cutting boards
- Fastening of boards together
- Other activities as needed
Project Harmony
Make tie blankets for kids, toddlers to teens. The Water’s Edge will provide the fleece as well as instructions. Blankets may be made off-site and returned to the church by September 8th. Currently in need to 10 blankets.
