Town Hall Meeting

Exciting news! Our leadership team has been working hard behind the scenes to determine capital needs at The Water’s Edge. The team has had lots of discussion and has held listening sessions with two focus groups. WE will be having a town hall meeting after the 10:30 worship service on Sunday, May 23rd. It should last about 45 minutes or so.

I want to be clear about where WE are: no decision has been made about the goals of the next capital campaign. Leading options include debt elimination / reduction; a building expansion to the west that would include four classrooms and a large gathering area for youth and kids; and building a driveway on the west side of the property which would connect the parking lot to 198th Street. Or a combination of the above items.

I hope you will be able to join us. I’d love to get your feedback!

Donuts and Singing

Last weekend was our first weekend in over a year with congregational singing and donuts. It was a beautiful sound to hear all the voices and WE ran out of donuts. WE will have more singing this weekend and are going to order more donuts!

Old School

WE are in the middle of the sermon series “Old School.” Old songs, old prayers, old scriptures—more relevant than ever to today’s world. People loved Week 1. Join us Saturday evening or Sunday morning for Week 2!

Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is this Sunday. My experience in life has taught me that moms are some of the strongest, wisest, most generous people in the world. I have also observed that many moms don’t think they are doing a very good job. I have yet to meet a mom who feels like she is doing everything right or even most things right. Be proactive the next few days and let the moms in your life know they are doing a great job.

WE Bike

A new group is starting up at The Water’s Edge. WE Bike is a group for any and all cyclists! Join us for our first ride on Sunday, May 23rd at 1:00 pm. WE will meet at Chalco in the Natural Resources parking lot and take a 7 mile ride around the lake. Bring a snack or sack lunch for a picnic afterwards.

Blood Drive Results

The Water’s Edge continues to be one of the top collection sites for blood in the Omaha area. Last Friday we had 126 donors who gave 128 pints of blood saving up to 384 lives! Thanks to all who participated.

Are you New?
If you’re ready to move from friend to family, our next WE Explore Membership class will be on Tuesday, May 11th at 6:30 pm. WE will learn more about our church history and beliefs, as well as help you find your place at the church.

WE are Hiring!

The Water’s Edge is searching for our next Director of Children’s ministries. Don’t worry, Michele is staying with us. She is doing our videos, worship planning, social media, web site, and other things too! The primary responsibility for this position is to lead the volunteers who serve infants through 5th grade students. We are looking for a creative follower of Jesus who is enthusiastic about reaching children and their families in a post-pandemic world. This position will work on a collaborative staff of energetic and passionate ministry professionals. This is most likely a full-time position, but we will consider people interested in working part-time. To apply email gaileen@weomaha.com.

Pray for Rain

WE had 700 trees planted last week. They from the Department of Natural Resources and they were free! A dedicated volunteer gave them an initial watering last week. Pray for ample amounts of rain in the very near future. It would be a blessing to our trees and to our prairie grasses planted last year.
